Frequently asked questions
Where can foreign workers share experiences and read reviews about their support organization or employer in Japan?
On JWC, foreigners who work or have worked in Japan can log in and write reviews of companies, registered support organizations, supervising organizations and more in their own language. A review has star ratings on 7 items (pay, overtime and days off, workload, ease for foreign workers, workplace atmosphere, support organization response, career growth) and free text. Without an account you can read the first part of up to 2 reviews per organization; after signing up for free, you can read all reviews for 180 days by posting a review of your own workplace, registering for Tokutei Ginou Supple, or registering for a job-change consultation. Reviews are published after the JWC team checks them.

Can I compare and find registered support organizations or supervising organizations by area, supported language, country and occupation?
Yes. In "Search support and supervising organizations" you can filter by keyword (name, address or registration number), prefecture, type (registered support organization, general supervision, specified supervision), supported language, country and occupation. Supported languages come from the registration of each registered support organization, and countries and occupations come from the license of each supervising organization. On each organization's page you can compare the information from the official lists (with source and as-of date) and the review ratings.

How should I choose a supervising organization, and where can I find information to compare them?
First, check in OTIT's "search for supervising organizations" that the organization is licensed. In JWC's "Search support and supervising organizations" you can filter by prefecture, type, country and occupation (from each supervising organization's license), and compare the official information and reviews from people who dealt with each organization (including ratings for support organization response). Check fees and the support offered directly with each organization before signing a contract.

What is the difference between a registered support organization and a supervising organization?
A registered support organization is commissioned by an organization that accepts foreign nationals with Specified Skilled Worker (i) status to provide support based on the support plan, and is registered with the Commissioner of the Immigration Services Agency of Japan. A supervising organization is a non-profit organization that supervises the companies and other implementing organizations in the Technical Intern Training system, and holds a permit from the competent ministers. The Immigration Services Agency of Japan publishes the list of registered support organizations, and the Organization for Technical Intern Training publishes the list of supervising organizations.

How can I check whether a registered support organization or supervising organization is legitimate (registered or licensed by the government)?
You can check the name, registration number and license number of a registered support organization in the Immigration Services Agency of Japan's Registry of Registered Support Organizations, and of a supervising organization in OTIT's search for supervising organizations; be careful with organizations that are not on these official lists. Each JWC page shows the information on these official lists with the source and as-of date, and you can also read reviews from people who dealt with the organization, but a listing on JWC is not a recommendation or guarantee. Check the latest status on the publisher's list. For sending organizations or brokers in your home country, also check the information published by your home country's government.

What is the difference between "general" and "specified" supervision business?
A supervising organization with a general supervision business permit can supervise technical intern training (i) to (iii), and one with a specified supervision business permit can supervise (i) and (ii). The general permit is given to organizations that meet requirements such as being excellent.

When does the Employment for Skill Development system start, and what happens to supervising organizations?
According to the "Employment for Skill Development System Q&A" of the Immigration Services Agency of Japan, the system takes effect on April 1, 2027. Technical intern trainees who have entered Japan by that date, and trainees whose training plan certification was applied for before that date and who start training within three months of it (by June 30, 2027), among others, can continue their technical intern training after that date. To handle Employment for Skill Development work as a supervising and support organization, a supervising organization must newly obtain a supervising and support organization permit; applications have been accepted since April 15, 2026, before the system takes effect. For the conditions and procedures, check the Q&A of the Immigration Services Agency of Japan and the guidance of the Organization for Technical Intern Training.
